HRSE

On October 24th 2023, Gillian Keegan - the then secretary of state for education, wrote to all schools to confirm the practice of sharing materials with parents so they can fully understand the sex education curriculum at each school. We would like to reassure you that at St Mary and St Andrew's we have always shared materials with our families via face-to-face presentations and live links on this website. We will continue to operate in this transparent, family-friendly way so that parents and carers, whom we regard as first educators of the child, can make fully informed decisions.

At St Mary & St Andrew’s, we are guided by God who is at the centre of everything we do. We support each other to be the best people we can be, to secure bright futures for everyone. With our parishes, family and the community, we work together to create a school that is safe, happy, respectful and inspirational.

Our school prayer, ‘Guide us, O God, to be the best we can be, in every thought, in every word and in every deed’, guides our journey.

At St Mary & St Andrew’s Catholic Primary School, we are inspired by Jesus to be the very best we can be. We look after one another and show respect and love through our relationships with one another. Jesus is invited into our hearts. In the Beatitudes, Jesus invites us to lead a full life with him by explaining what makes people blessed or happy. This is about understanding how loving our neighbour enables us to be happy too. Therefore, having a good relationship with ourselves and the other people in our lives makes us grow and flourish and we respect that everyone is a unique and beautiful part of God’s creation. We are all children of God, called to grow in love for him through the person of Jesus Christ and to spread the Good News through the action of the Holy Spirit.

HRSE is actively taught both through the subjects of curriculum RE and PSHE to ensure that all the statutory requirements are met. Follow the link to our PSHE page for more in depth information about our PSHE curriculum
