Guide us O God to be the best we can be; In every thought, In every word and every deed.
On June 7th and 8th of 2023, we received instruction that we were to be inspected under the new Catholic Schools Inspectorate framework.
We are so proud to share with our families and community that we received the grade of 'Outstanding.' This inspection, we consider, is the most important of all statutory inspections as it reviews the Catholic life and mission of our school - our core purpose.
We have included some comments here for you to read but please do take the time to read the report in its entirety. As a member of our school community, this is your grade also - we cannot achieve this without you, your children, your families and wide-ranging contributions.
From the moment visitors enter the school, they are made to feel welcome. The school has a highly welcoming and extremely engaging Catholic environment.
Behaviour and attitudes to learning are exemplary across the whole school. Pupils show a deep respect for the dignity of others, as well as a good understanding of religious and cultural differences. A wide range of visitors are invited into school to support and enhance understanding of other cultures.
"St. Mary and St. Andrew’s is an outstanding Catholic school. Staff, pupils, parents and governors justifiably speak with great pride about their school. There is an appreciation of all that they achieve together alongside a deep commitment to continued improvement. Across the whole school there is an atmosphere of love, support and challenge. The Catholic ethos is treasured by staff, governors and pupils alike. The school motto ‘Guide us, O God, to be the best people that we can be’ is lived out by staff, pupils and governors. Leaders and managers effectively promote the Catholic Life of the school, through the example they set and their focus on keeping Christ at the centre of all that they do. The school environment demonstrates the high importance placed on the Catholic Life of the school – not just in the beautiful displays around the school – but also in the playground where children chalk the names of children who have shown they have a ‘heart that sees’ on the wall."
